AMI

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori to maintain the integrity of her life’s work, and to ensure that it would be perpetuated with fidelity after her death. As the recognized international authority on Montessori education and directs studies in affiliated teacher-training institutions around the world, AMI is sought after internationally as the custodian and cultivator of Montessori pedagogy.

AMI standards ensure that schools offer programs that allow children to develop their physical, intellectual, social and emotional potential and ensure that the approach is consistent with the content presented in AMI training courses worldwide.

The AMI Head Office is situated in Amsterdam, the Netherlands – in Maria Montessori’s last residence. To this day, her study is preserved as a museum to her memory and each year it attracts visitors from all corners of the world.

MONTESSORI GUIDE

Montessori theory is straightforward – tied to neuroscience and to the natural development of the child. In contrast, Montessori practice authentically is a very complex undertaking. In order to grasp the profound effects of this method, it is essential to see the work of children in their classroom environments.

Montessori Guide is an online resource that demonstrates what quality Montessori looks like and what practitioners need to take into consideration in order to ensure a high fidelity implementation. The site is filled with captivating classroom footage – beautifully filmed, artfully edited, and organized to serve both the inquiring newcomer and the veteran practitioner.
